Unlike many other tour companies offering trips based in the Italian Alps, we truly will immerse you into daily Italian life, not as a tourist, but as an extended member of our family,  which has had an established presence in the Austrian and Italian Alps for many generations. My mother and her maternal family were born and raised in the Tyrolean Alps located on the Brenner Pass, on the border of Austria and Italy. My grandfather and his family have enjoyed an established presence in Genova (near Portofino) on the Italian Riviera dating back to the mid-1700's.

I am extremely lucky to have shared a lifetime between two amazing countries and cultures. As a bi-lingual, Italian American, it places me in the unique position of being able to provide my guests with the dream vacation of a lifetime. I am thrilled that my lifelong experiences, family friendships and connections all over Northern Italy allow me to spoil our guests with unique, magical, and personalized vacations for guests of all backgrounds and ages. WHY THE DOLOMITES?

It has been my life-long passion to expose people to a region of Italy that relatively is unknown outside of Europe, the Italian Dolomites, located in the South Eastern region of the European Alps. This incredibly beautiful mountain chain is located just 110 km (68 miles) northwest of Venice, one of the most visited cities in the world. Sadly, many visitors never get a chance to leave the beaten path and really experience "everyday" Italian life away from the tourist belt.

One of the most famous chains of mountains in the Dolomites are the Pale di San Martino.  These are the beautiful peaks that shelter one of the crown jewels of the Dolomites, the charming, and internationally renowned and acclaimed ski resort town, San Martino di Castrozza.  This exquisitely beautiful town surrounded by stunningly majestic peaks has been my maternal family's vacation home for over 50 years, and I grew up running through meadows filled with wildflowers, climbing rocky peaks, and treasuring the special serenity that can only be found in a majestically wild setting like this one.  San Martino serves as The Alpine Adventure Agency's homebase from the end of May through the beginning of November. We are based in the Washington D.C. area the rest of the year. San Martino di Castrozza and the Pale di San Martino are featured in almost all of our Dolomites vacations.
