THE ALPINE ADVENTURE AGENCY
"I WANT IT ALL" DREAM VACATION SERIES PRESENTS:

THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES
SIX DAY VACATION

May 31-June 6, 2010

The Italian Dolomites Six Day Vacation is PART TWO of our "Ultimate Alpine Adventure" and can be booked as its own package.

PART ONE is our Lake Como Four Day Getaway.  Click here for more details or Contact Us for more information.

The Italian Dolomites are one of the most beautiful mountain chains in the world. Did you know that these unique peaks  began as coral reefs in an ancient sea?  As the waters receded over millions of years, the elements shaped what emerged, resulting in the exquisite, jagged peaks we know today. In June of 2009, UNESCO recognized the Dolomites as treasures of humanity and added them to the World Heritage list!

This incredibly beautiful mountain chain is located just 110 km (68 miles) northwest of Venice in the South Eastern European Alps.  in the visually exciting and emotionally inspiring Trentino/ Sud Tirol-Alto Adige region.

One of the most famous chains of mountains in the Dolomites are the Pale di San Martino, located just about the Primiero valley and below Passo Rolle.  These are the beautiful peaks that shelter one of the crown jewels of the Dolomites, the charming ski resort town of San Martino di Castrozza,  and take center-stage for our six day dream vacation.

We'll explore the rugged and natural beauty of our surroundings and  the cultural traditions, artisanal products and unique wines and cuisine of the magical Trentino-Sud Tirol-Alto Adige region of Italy!

We truly will immerse you into daily Italian life, not as a tourist, but as an extended member of the family. We'll take you to places where commercial tourism has not yet destroyed the native culture and where the locals welcome you into their families with open arms!

We invite you to explore one of Italy's best kept secrets: the majestic alpine peaks, the charming townspeople, and the beautiful Tyrolean villages that dot the landscape of one of the most beautiful places on Earth, the Italian Dolomites!

If you are participating in a cruise departing from or arriving in Venice, Italy, this is the perfect pre or post extension package to visit this spectacular region of Italy!   Please contact us for more details.

  • Your personal guide and translator throughout this entire special alpine adventure is Daniela Anderson, the Italian-American, bi-lingual owner of The Alpine Adventure Agency.  Her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were born in the Italian Alps, while her grandfather's family has had an established presence in Genova since the mid-1700's.  Daniela has spent a lifetime shared between two countries and two cultures, enabling her to provide you with a dream trip of a lifetime!
  • Our full-time outdoor/ nature photography instructor, Alessandro Simon, accompanies our group when a minimum of 7 guests is reached.

The Italian Dolomites are found in the Italian Alps in the Trentino/ Sud-Tirol-Alto Adige region of Italy, and are located in the South Eastern region of the European Alps, only 68 miles from Venice, Italy.

STRUCTURE IN YOUR EXCLUSIVE DREAM VACATION:

  • Our mornings will be reserved for cultural and scenic opportunities exclusive to our vacations and will encompass a variety of experiences, including tantalizing cooking demonstrations in a variety of settings.
  • In addition to the wonderful morning and lunchtime excursions,  your afternoons and evenings are completely open and unstructured, giving our guests freedom to explore on their own and relax and enjoy their surroundings. We offer a few after-dinner opportunities for our guests, such as a wonderful presentation on the history of the area as well as a private concert given by a renown Tyrolean yodeling trio, the Beatrich (minimum of 10 guests for private concert to take place).
  • We organize our scenic and gastronomic tours so that our guests are able to take advantage of  traditional, Italian daily customs:  Italians take time off from 12-3pm to enjoy a large mid-day meal called Pranzo, followed by time to relax with their families before heading back to work. The stores close around noon and open up again about 3pm and remain open the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. It is customary to stroll leisurely through town in the afternoon, taking in shop windows and enjoying espresso and pastries or gelato at the many cafes before dinner, which Italians eat typically around 7:30-8pm.
  • If you want to add more adventurous activities to your vacation and "touch" the majestic wildnerness of the Dolomites in a more exciting way, we can help you choose from many activities for all levels of participants in outdoor excursions.

Daniela and Stephen introduce you to some of their dearest friends in the world, the renown Tyrolean yodeling trio, the Beatrich!

We supply one to each paying guest with 5 Euro already on the card. You can buy more minutes for your phone easily in most stores. We have made instant concierge service and assistance possible with important phone numbers already programmed into the phones, including mine, the hotel, local transportation companies, and medical assistance. I am just a phone call away to assist you with any needs or requests.
  • Upon request, we provide hiking poles to each guest.
  • Upon request, the hotels' kitchens and the restaurants we will be visiting can accommodate any dietary need with advanced notification.
  • We get to do many special activities that have been created just for my groups, thanks to my family's personal friendships with various business owners in the region.
  • We hired a full-time consultant who specializes in outdoor/ nature photography to help our guests take incredible pictures. He will be present for most group activities, taking the group to the best locations to take pictures, giving advice on using your equipment, and showing you where to stand to get those amazing shots of your dream vacation (minimum of 5 booked guests is required for Alessandro's inclusion in the package).
  • Ken and Daniela Anderson, your lead guides, are certified to provide first responder care and be the first link to help until professional emergency personnel can arrive in case of an emergency. They are not EMT's, paramedics, doctors or nurses. Daniela and/or Ken accompany all organized group activities and are certified in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR/ AED (automated external defibrillator) for the Professional Rescuer.
