SCENIC TOURS, EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, AND ADVENTURE/ OUTDOOR VACATIONS:
We created the "Fiber Summit Series Abroad (FSSA)" to enable enthusiasts of fiber arts to convene several times a year in exotic and beautiful settings. FSSA's homebase is located in the Italian Tyrolean Alps and Venice. Knitters, crocheters, hand spinners, weavers, quilters, dyers, students of Kumihimo, and enthusiasts of Temari, embroidery and other needle arts all belong to an extended fiber community that enjoy a wonderful comraderie and understanding of each other based in a shared passion. It makes me extremely happy to provide unique environments where we can share each others' creativity while visiting some of the most beautiful and breath-taking locations on Earth. We have several knitting and crochet workshops occuring in 2010 with the following instructors: Galina Khmeleva, Sally Melville, Beth Brown-Reinsel, Jenny Dowde, Joan McGowan Michael, Lily Chin, Myrna Stahman, Doris Chan and Karen Ratto-Whooley. This vacation is the core package in our dossier. It has many wonderful and unexpected activities and excursions that appeal to everyone, from families with young children to couples just starting out, retirees and everyone in between! This package also is highly customizable, making it the perfect choice for private groups that choose to travel in a private tour environment or as the base structure for educational conferences and workshops seeking an exotic setting for their students.
We are offering this tour several times in 2010 in conjunction with all of our educational workshops. Our fiber, cooking and photography workshops occurring in the Alps and Venice are based on the "I Want it All" vacation, and we welcome anyone interested in the scenic portion only to join us!
This tour includes:
Our one-day scenic bus tour introduces our guests to some of the most beautiful Dolomitic Passes. Our itinerary includes San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Passo Valles, Passo San Pellegrino, Moena, Canazei, Val di Fassa, Cable Car Ride to the top of Sass Pordoi, Lunch at Rifugio Maria at the top of Sass Pordoi (shorter day tour), Passo Sella to the Rifugio Salei for Lunch (longer day tour), Predazzo, Val di Fiemme, Parco Naturale Paneveggio.
This tour offers two departure locations. We begin and end in Venice, making it convenient for vacationers in Venice to enjoy a unique escape from the tourist belt into one of the most exquisite locations in the world! We also will pick up in the Primiero Valley and San Martino di Castrozza since we go through these two locations as we head deep into the Dolomites.
This is the ideal day-tour. shore excursion for people enjoying a cruise beginning or ending in Venice, or stopping for a port-of-call outing.
In 2010, this scenic tour is listed as a fiber workshop, but we enthusiastically welcome guests interested only in the scenic portions of the vacation. All guests will participate together in the morning group excursions and custom lunches. After lunch, workshop students attend class, while scenic tour guests are free to explore and relax for the rest of the day.
We are thrilled to be able to offer this special series of dream cooking school vacations to our guests! These culinary events will follow the same format as our signature "I Want It All" vacations, with our mornings reserved for unique group excursions and experiences in spectacular settings, cooking demonstrations, tours to vineyards, cheese factories, open-air markets, and many other culinary destinations, and custom gourmet lunches as well as visits with artisans preserving the heritage of many regional items still being produced "in the old way!"
Our afternoons will feature formal cooking lessons with premiere, master executive chefs, enologists, sommeliers, and other culinary experts as well as experiences in the kitchens of local families who have passed down original regional recipes through many generations. In 2010, we will be offering a very special ten-day edition of our Tyrolean Culinary School, pairing it with our "Sipping with the Sommeliers" package. This gourmet's delight will take place in the Italian Tyrolean Alps and Venice, Italy. We offer two categories of photography vacations:
Future scenic-only photography vacations are planned for the Faroe Islands (2011), Peru/ Chile (2012) and Russia (2013). Contact us for more details.
